The Tour of Mont-Blanc

Conditions May 14th 2018

14 May 2018

After a winter full of snow and a fresh and snowy spring, this month of May still looks rather wintery, with snow starting at 2000 meters above sea level, sometimes less. The general conditions are therefore late comparing to the seasonal average situation and the paths are walkable, without problems and snowfields, only at low altitudes (or at medium altitude on the southern slopes). The Tour du Mont Blanc still has a lot of snow on most of the track and at the moment we can imagine that in June (classic start of the season) there will still be many snowfields along the path. We therefore recommend to all hikers who are planning to do the TMB to equip themselves properly with appropriate footwear, trekking crampons, solid and reliable poles.
