Description

The "Climat Adventure” Trail: A Wild Courtyard.

From the Chalet du Col des Montets, gateway to the Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve, follow the trail to "Un cortil bien sauvage". Its entrance is marked by a sign reminding the regulations in the nature reserve. The well laid out trail descends from the pass on the Chamonix side. On two occasions, leave the paths leading to Lake Blanc on your right. Steps are provided in the steepest sections. The path then descends onto the paved road. This part is quite difficult (presence of roots and stones) but short. Cross the road and look for the "Un cortil bien sauvage" trail sign at the bottom of the parking lot, on the left. Then go back to the welcome chalet.

This itinerary is characterized by six installations, each developing a topic: habitats and ecological niches, hazards and natural risks, areas of transition between altitudinal bands, animals, wetlands and Alpine plants... In the summer, during your walk, you may come across students on the trail: they will share their knowledge and passion about the surrounding environments.

If you are with family or simply in the mood, a game kit including booklets on the five trails of the valley "Climate Adventure" is available at the Chalet du Col des Montets and in the Tourist Offices. Thus, you will solve riddles along your journey, while learning about the natural beauty of this territory!

Ask for more information at the Chalet d'Accueil du Col des Montets.

For people with reduced mobility, the surroundings of the welcome chalet are well equipped and allow short walks.
